Abstract

The valgus tibial osteotomy is a procedure commonly used for the correction of the varus displacement with the objective of restoring the neutral axis. There are two surgical alternatives, opening and closing osteotomy. The implants used for opening osteotomy offer certain advantages and disadvantages. The objective of this technical note is to describe and compare two types of implants designed for valgus osteotomies of the proximal tibia: the Puddu plate and the TomoFix™ plate.
